Crystal Lily off the map at TAB Sportsbet

Punters have launched into Melbourne filly Crystal Lily in Saturday’s Group III Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

The Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained filly was posted as a $4 second favourite with TAB Sportsbet behind Ambers Waltz when betting kicked off on Wednesday, but a wave of money forced her price into $3.20 and she’s now the top elect.

“As soon as the market went up we took a bet of $5,000 and she firmed into $3.60,” TAB Sportsbet spokesman Glenn Munsie said. “Since then we've taken another bet of $4,000 at the $3.60 so she’s now the favourite.”

Munsie also said the support for Crystal Lily hasn’t been restricted to the Sweet Embrace.

“She was at $17 in the Golden Slipper but a bet of $10,000 brought her quote into $15,” he said. “Further bets of $4,000 and $2,000 each-way have been laid at $15.”
