Hawkesbury race by race preview
Racing returns to Hawkesbury on Thursday with an nine-race card on offer for punters and the racenet form assessors have been working hard to give readers a leg-up.

Here is Racenet’s race-by-race preview for the meeting.

Race 1 – TAB No 1 Club Mdn Hcp (1000m)
Fairy Gumnut (1) competitive in much stronger company last campaign. Trial winner Feb 26 and looks too good fir this lot. Maypan (5) is resuming off a strong Rhill trial Feb 2. Struck soft tracks at each of two starts last campaign. Snowden-trained. Trilione (3) is a first starter from the Anthony Cummings yard. Trial winner at Rwick Feb 22. This race suitable. Lovely Lonny (6) resuming and having first run for the Bart Cummings stable. Keep safe.
Selections – Fairy Gumnut (1), Maypan (5), Trilione (3), Lovely Lonny (6)

Race 2 – J&B Buffalo Turf Mdn Hcp (1000m)
Platamone Castle (1) resuming. Showed plenty of promise at initial campaign. Unplaced in a Rwick lead-up trial Feb 22 but looked to have plenty in hand. Should be too good. Egoiste (9) forget first-up effort at Kembla on very heavy going. Previous two starts at initial campaign quite sound. Best value hope. Nediym’s Dance (7) gunned down late at Wagga when having only second career start. Blinkers go on first time. Can improve. Honours Kids (6) struck early bother when 4th at Bathurst Feb 19. Likely improver.
Selections – Platanome Castle (1), Egoiste (9), Nediym’s Dance (7), Honours Kids (6)

Race 3 – Living Turf Mdn Hcp (1600m)
Rofra (11) form looked very good until latest effort at Ncle when got too far back in a mile Ncle maiden. Can bounce back. Hello Mister (7) slow out of the gates but hits the line gamely. Only beaten 3.7 lens at Wyong (1600m) last time. Multiples hope at odds. Dena (5) placed at Gburn (1600m) last time in Benchmark 54 company. Back to maiden grade suits. Walter-trained.
Selections –Rofra (11), Hello Mister (7), Dena (5)

Race 4 – Hi Quality Turf Mdn Hcp (1600m)
Maluckyday (1) only warming-up late when edged out on debut at Wyong (1350m). Suited out to the mile and better for the race experience. Looks promising. Katisam (7) down in class on latest 2.2 lens 8th Mirrasalo at Cbury (1550m) in Benchmark 73 grade. Should go well. Run For Layla (9) form last campaign very sound behind Khas Kura and So You Think. Slightly disappointing this time in but set to improve out to the mile. Broadway Burlesque (4) resuming over the mile. Has shown ability in handful of starts.
Selections – Maluckyday (1), Katisam (7), Run For Layla (9), Broadway Burlesque (4)

Race 5 – Vermont Sands Mdn Hcp (1300m)
Sasa (3) top debut when third Decision Time at Rhill after racing wide throughout. Better for the experience and blinkers go on first time. Circus Rock (5) tried hard behind La Remlap on debut at Cbury. Better for that run and this is easier. Drawn ideally. Parables (10) first starter from the Snowden yard. Lonhro filly only had one lead-up trial. Big watch. Golden Millenium (7) big drop in grade on latest effort at Caulfield in the $250k Inglis event.
Selections – Sasa (3), Circus Rock (5), Parables (10), Golden Millenium (7)

Race 6 – Evergreen Turf Victoria Benchmark 65 Hcp (1400m)
Isola (8) no luck first-up at Gford when badly held-up inside the final 150m. Should have figured in the finish and out to atone here. Lady Gazerra (6) too good winning her maiden at Wyong then no luck when up to C1 grade after striking serious trouble on the home turn. Main threat. Dance Idol (2) wide throughout first-up at Gford when only beaten 1.6 lens in C2 grade. Fitter and set to improve. Golden Schnapps (4) Victorian-trained mare adept in all conditions. Competitive 4th at Wyong (1350m) Mar 3. Chance.
Selections – Isola (8), Lady Gazerra (6), Dance Idol (2), Golden Schnapps (4)

Race 7 – Dad & Dave’s Turf Benchmark 65 Hcp (1400m)
Sherwoods Choice (3) won two on the trot before caught wide at WFarm (1300m) last time when 5th behind Sir Nick. Form-lines looks strong enough. Remolino (5) excels in soft going so check track conditions. Two previous tries this track/distance have resulted in a first and a second. Big chance. Hurricane Mick (2) set a solid tempo in front and pulled out plenty to win at Ncle last time. Take plenty of catching again. Onlyinthedark (4) resumes off a long spell for B Cummings and whilst destined for further should be warming-up strongly late.
Selections – Sherwoods Choice (3), Remolino (5), Hurricane Mick (2), Onlyinthedark (4)

Race 8 – Fleming Golf Mdn Plate (1300m)
Our Magicgaze (5) placed at 7 of 16 and deserves to break through. Beaten 5 lens in a strong WFarm maiden last time. Suited at the provincials. Good value. Flashing Aura (10) big effort at WFarm first-up when posted wide throughout. Placed at 3 of 7 and won’t be far off breaking through. Luxe (12) resuming. Lightly raced filly from the Snowden yard. Hit line gamely at each of two runs at only campaign. Brightnight (9) first starter from the Cummings yard. Third in a Rwick trial Feb 22. Keep safe.
Selections – Our Magicgaze (5), Flashing Aura (10), Luxe (12), Brightnight (9)

Race 9 – The Mean Fiddler Class 2 Hcp (1800m)
Kiss Of The Dragon (3) fitter for two runs back over shorter journeys. Suited out to 1800m and should be very competitive at each-way odds. Doc Hennessy (2) did early work and refused to lie down when a very determined winner at Kembla (1600m) Feb 27. Big chance. Alotta Lute (1) meets Doc Hennessy 2kg better for half-length defeat at Kembla (1600m) Feb 27. Gets chance. Kirribilli (8) locally-trained with good stats here. Solid effort when runner-up at Ncle (1850m) last time.
Selections – Kiss Of The Dragon (3), Doc Hennessy (2), Alotta Lute (1), Kirribilli (8)
